SUMMARY:Advocacy – Public Event -Friends of French Creek
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\nFriends of French Creek Conservation Society (FFCCS) has been working towards preserving a part of the property that belonged to Jacquie Thomson which is the first property located on the right when you cross the green bridge over French Creek on the way to Parksville since last June (2023).\n\nThe property is slated to ultimately have regional park trail that would connect to an existing regional trail which begins at the inland Lee road approximately 600 meters from the Thomson property back property line.\n\nThe result would be a contiguous trail to the green bridge and across to the Nature Preserve Park FFCCS successfully obtained which is now owned by BC Parks Foundation and managed by RDN Parks.\n\nWe are also asking that when RDN Waste Water Treatment Centre has finished using the wonderful big house on the property as an office during its initial expansion efforts, that the house becomes a learning centre for water, watersheds, waste water and other nature and environmental learning experiences. We foresee involving the RDN Drinking Water Watersheds Program using the house as a learning centre along with community input and volunteers.\n\n\n\n\n\n
