Red Dress Hanging Ceremonies
CFUW PQ will be continuing the yearly tradition of hanging of Red Dresses to honour Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women. The ceremonies will be in Qualicum and Parksville. The dresses will be hung on November 24, and remain in place until December 10. Our Talking Circle group will organise and manage the details, and will be seeking club members to participate.
The ceremonies will take place at the start of the UN International 16 Days ofActivism against Gender-Based Violence which runs from Nov. 25 to December 10. This encompasses December 6 when 14 young women were murdered at the Polytechnique Montreal 30 years ago.
