TWO NEW AWARDS ADDED THIS YEAR 2020!
The Trust is pleased to announce two new awards in addition to the usual awards available.
For more information, hover over the Scholarship & Bursary Trust drop down menu and click on the links to the Early Childhood Education Award and/or the Apprenticeship Award.
Two scholarships were awarded by the Club before the Trust was formally established as an independent body in 1987. Since then both the number and value of the awards have increased.
In June 2019 the Trust awarded 2 Secondary School Scholarships; 3 Memorial Scholarships; 2 Post Graduate Scholarships and 2 Return to School Bursaries.
June 2019 also included 1 Parksville/Qualicum CFUW 100th Anniversary Award.
All of the recipients have been local women. In addition, we administer the J. C. Reid Memorial Scholarship on behalf of the Reid family and as of 2018 North Island College administers an award on our behalf for a local woman continuing her studies in a Red Seal Trade programme. Since 1985 the Trust has awarded over a quarter of a million dollars.
The Trust has 8 trustees, each elected for a 4 year term from among the membership of CFUW PQ. They are responsible for establishing the number and criteria for the awards, publicizing them, selecting the winners, managing the finances of the Trust and reporting to both CFUW PQ and Canada Revenue Agency. Funds come from individual donors (mainly members of CFUW P-Q), an annual CFUW PQ grant, Thrifty Smile Card Programme and from 100+ Women Who Care Oceanside.
